Everyone has pet peeves, or something that a particular person finds especially annoying. In today’s challenge, I’m here to share my top 5 pet peeves with you. Although they are common, not everyone would classify these as their top 5 — but they really get under my skin.
#1: BEING IGNORED — This is, hands down, my number one biggest pet peeve. I’ve never understood the purpose behind ignoring someone, but even more so if you are family, consider them your friend, are dating, or if it is business related. It doesn’t take that long to tell someone you’re busy and need to call them back, or simply explain to them that you’re not in the mood for talking. Just say SOMETHING. That is the quickest way to get under my skin, and cause me to lash out.
#2: UNRELIABLE PEOPLE — This one kind of goes hand-in-hand with number one, simply because I know them both all too well. I’m very anti-social. I’ve never enjoyed meeting new people, or being around anyone I don’t know. However, in the past, I’ve had people I considered my friends. It wasn’t until they started to ignore me, make excuses, not follow through, ditch on plans, etc. that it became an issue for me. Now, I’m realistic. I know that life happens, we are all grown, we have our own priorities, and so on. But unreliable people, mainly those that are consistently unreliable, are no good to have around. Cut those people out of your life. I did, and I don’t feel guilty about it.
#3: REPEATING MYSELF — We all know someone that is hard of hearing, literally, but then we also know those people who have what is called selective hearing. They choose what they want to hear, and if they weren’t truly listening to you, they will say, “Huh,” or, “What,” and cause you to repeat yourself. I know that I’ve been on that side of the fence before, but I’m referring to those who ALWAYS do this. Someone that’s not actively a part of the conversation when they should be, or simply just do not care. I’ve always despised having to repeat myself, especially when it’s the same people, over and over again.
#4: TURN SIGNALS — Maybe this isn’t as serious to you as it is to me, but come on. Turn signals are there for a damn reason! No one thought, “Hey, I’m going to make these cool gadgets that help keep the roads safe for families, but I’m sure they’ll never use them.” Seriously, use them. Especially if you have a family, don’t jeopardize their lives because of your ignorance. It takes two seconds, and it keeps everyone safe. Don’t be an ass.
#5: SLOW WALKERS/DRIVERS — This is in no way contradicting my last pet peeve in regards to safety. It doesn’t bother me as much when you know there’s no one behind you, but if you know you’re going 10+mph slower than the speed limit, or if you’re walking incredibly slow for no reason and someone is behind you, MOVE OVER. I said it, and I’m not sorry. It is not that difficult to be a decent human-being.
