Mother’s Day is a holiday where we celebrate the women we came from; who loved, raised, and taught us from the ground up. Whether you have a strong relationship with your biological mother or not, most of us have a woman, or women, that we look up to and celebrate today.
Happy Mother’s Day to all of you wonderful, strong, beautiful, exhausted women who do your absolute best to raise your babies, even after they’re old enough to do for themselves. Today is for, and about you!
Mother’s Day has always been a big holiday for me to love, thank, and remind my mother (and myself) just how much she means to me. She is one of the strongest, courageous, most beautiful women, inside and out, that I have ever met.
Growing up, she was my best friend. No matter what I had done, was going through, or feeling, I knew that I could always count on her — as a shoulder to cry on, someone to give me advice (even if I didn’t listen at the time), and the one person who always loved, encouraged, and supported me to be the best person I could be. There are not enough days in the year to thank her for all that she has done for me, even though I wish that I could. Life has put her through so much, but she always comes out on top. My mother has taught me so much, and I am eternally grateful for her compassionate soul.
In this life, it’s not about how much money you make (or spend), the job that you have, or the clothes on your back, but the relationships you have and hold onto. In the end, that will be the only thing that matters.
My Mom and I have had our fair share of up’s and down’s, but she’s always loved me through it all. We will always come out on top. I value our relationship more than anything in this world because without her, I would be absolutely nothing. I’ve always told myself that if I could be half of the mother, woman, and person that she is, I know that I can do anything with dignity and pride. She’s truly one-of-a-kind! I remind myself to always be grateful for where I came from, and to acknowledge everything that my mother did to make sure we had everything that we needed. Life isn’t always easy for any of us, but the people that we love and hold dear make it a little more bearable when it feels impossible.
Mom, I love you more than I could ever express to you in words. You are the best thing that ever happened to me, and I will remind you of that as often as I can. Through the good times and bad, I’ve always had a wonderful person on my side who never gave up on me. I will spend the rest of my life thanking you for all of the sacrifices you’ve made over the years, apologizing for the mistakes and challenges I sent your way, and loving you beyond belief because that’s what you’ve always done for me. You are my best friend, and I appreciate you so incredibly much.
We are not promised tomorrow, or even a “next time.” All we have is today. Be grateful, say thank you, and remind those that you love how much they mean to you. Life comes and goes in the blink of an eye.
I hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day, and hold your babies as tightly as you can. My boyfriend and baby boy are spoiling me extra hard today with lots of love and snuggles!
