Today’s challenge could go so many different directions, and there is no right or wrong way to take it. With that said, I’m going to share a variation of my beliefs with you.
For starters, I’m one of the least judgmental people you will ever meet. We could disagree on 100% of things in our outlook on life, and I could still think you’re one of the most wonderful people I’ve ever met. As adults, we do not have to see eye-to-eye on everything, but we should respect how others feel and see things.
If you know me, you may already know this, but I am not religious, whatsoever. I’m honestly not sure what I believe in, but the closest I’d consider myself would have to be secular or agnostic. However, I personally just classify myself as non-religious for many reasons.
I do not believe there is a God, a Heaven, or a hell. I do not believe there is an afterlife, although I desperately wish there was. I do not believe in the Bible, the “word of God,” the 10 commandments, in prayer, etc. That is my personal belief, and no one can change that.
I do believe in nature, science, and the possibilities being endless. I believe in what I see with my own eyes. I know what I wish and/or hope could be true, but I also know that not everything is what it seems.
The world is a scary place sometimes. With that said, I believe kindness can go a long way. If you’re kind to someone else, then they are kind to someone else, and so on. Pay it forward. Say hello, good morning, ask how someone’s day is going, or something else polite. We never know what someone else may be battling with, and your kindness and compassion could mean the absolute world to them. It could change someone’s life.
We are all human, therefore we are going to make mistakes. Often. I believe that we should never give up on ourselves, even when our mind or body makes us believe that we should. If I gave up when my mind told me to, I wouldn’t be here. A lot of us wouldn’t. We are our own worst critic, but we are capable of overcoming more than we allow ourselves to believe. Be patient and kind to yourself.
Although I have a very black-and-white mindset most of the time, I truly believe that life is so much more than that. Things do not always have to be one way or the other. It’s hard to wrap my mind around at times, but when we remain close-minded to other possibilities, we miss so much.
What are your beliefs? I’d love to hear others feedback.
Day 22 coming soon.
